The LADRIVING system applies a formal workflow process for all DWI arrests. The workflow process takes a DWI arrest from draft to case, changing the status and permission during the process.
The standard workflow for a DWI arrest in LADRIVING is:
- While an officer is working in a DWI Arrest draft, it is in the “Draft” status and remains unlocked, allowing the officer the ability to make additions or changes.
- Once a DWI Arrest draft is complete, the arresting officer can submit it for supervisor approval, and the draft changes to the “Awaiting Approval” status. A draft that has been submitted for supervisor approval is locked, and restricts the officer from making additional edits.
- The submitting officer can “recall” a submitted draft with an “Awaiting Approval” status to withdraw it from the approval process. After a draft has been recalled, it is unlocked and can be edited or deleted by the arresting officer.
- After a DWI Arrest draft has been submitted for approval, it appears in the “Awaiting Approval” page of a supervisor within the same agency command as the submitting officer.
- The supervisor has the ability to view the DWI Arrest Case Summary, open and review the draft, or “claim” the DWI Arrest draft.
- When a supervisor “claims” a DWI Arrest draft, they accept ownership of the approval process for that draft. The draft changes to the “Claimed/Pending” status which prohibits the officer from recalling it to withdraw it from the approval process.
- After the supervisor “claims” a DWI Arrest draft, they can review and approve, or reject and return the draft.
- If the supervisor rejects the DWI Arrest draft, the status changes to “Returned” and the draft is sent back to the submitting officer with the supervisor’s notes for the reason for the rejection.
- The submitting officer can open the returned DWI Arrest draft, review the supervisor’s comments, make corrections and re-submit for supervisor approval, or choose to delete draft.
- After a supervisor approves the DWI Arrest case, the draft changes to the “Approved” status and is permanently locked in the LADRIVING system.
- An XML file will be created with the approved DWI Arrest case data and made available for consumption by OMV, Prosecutors, Case Management Systems, and other stakeholders.
- If the officer needs to include additional information to an approved DWI Arrest case, a Case Supplement must be created. The Case Supplement follows the same workflow process as a DWI Arrest draft.
